The commercially available skins are exclusively from quality fur farms all over the world. Due to the very fine hair structure and the very thin, lightweight leather, Chinchillas are perfectly suitable for evening wear. The wild chinchilla lives in South America from the slopes of the Andes to the coast in colonies. Since 1918 chinchillas are bred in North America and Europe. Chinchillas come in about 25 different shades. The vast majority is silvery. The darkest color is called "Black Velvet" and is at the same time the most expensive color. You can find also dyed chinchillas in different fashionable colors.
